Processing: Hot-extrusion and cold-drawing.

Etching: 1 min immersion in FeCl₃ alcoholic solution.

Hot plastic deformation of this monophasic brass results in an homogeneous recrystallized structure with characteristic twins of the α phase (FCC). As shown in the micrographs, cold working slightly deforms the grains. They become elongated and show slip bands (parallel lines associated with the steps produced by emerging dislocations) and curved twins.
