La asignatura aborda los conceptos teóricos fundamentales para el estudio de los textos infantiles y juveniles en lengua inglesa. Ofrece una aproximación literaria, cultural e histórica al campo, con especial atención a sus principales obras, tendencias y debates. En el curso se exploran los rasgos genéricos y las convenciones formales de estas producciones, así como sus implicaciones ideológicas y estéticas y la construcción cultural de la infancia y la adolescencia. La asignatura no tiene un enfoque didáctico ni se centra en la enseñanza en contextos escolares, sino que propone un análisis literario crítico orientado a la investigación filológica.

The course addresses the fundamental theoretical concepts for the study of children’s and young adult texts in English. It offers a literary, cultural, and historical approach to the field, with special attention to its main works, trends, and debates. The course explores the generic features and formal conventions of these productions, as well as their ideological and aesthetic implications and the cultural construction of childhood and adolescence. The course does not have a didactic focus, nor is it centred on teaching in school contexts; instead, it proposes a critical literary analysis oriented toward philological research.
