Esta asignatura obligatoria se plantea como un seminario-taller de intención transversal al resto del plan de estudios donde se abordará la lectura crítica, análisis y debate de textos teóricos de relevancia para la investigación en crítica literaria y los estudios culturales. Se abordará una selección de textos paradigmáticos de la llamada teoría crítica de manera teórica y de manera aplicada a la investigación literaria, aplacándolos a textos literarios concretos. El curso tiene por objetivo general que el estudiantado se familiarice con la historia de la teoría crítica y que conozca e integre las herramientas que esta proporciona para el estudio literario y estético. A nivel particular, y más allá de los enfoques críticos tradicionales, se busca una familiarización especializada con las corrientes, conceptos y marcos teóricos más recientes.

This required course is designed as a seminar/workshop which cuts across the rest of the curriculum. We will address critical reading, analysis, and discussion of theoretical texts relevant to research in literary criticism and cultural studies. A selection of paradigmatic texts from critical theory will be studied both in theoretical terms and in their application to literary research, applying them to specific literary texts. The overall aim of the course is for students to become familiar with the history of critical theory and to learn about and integrate the tools it provides for literary and aesthetic study. More specifically, and beyond traditional critical approaches, it seeks to provide specialized familiarity with the most recent currents, concepts, and theoretical frameworks.
