Generales
CG2: Knowledge of research methodologies for English linguistics
Conocer las metodologías para la investigación lingüística en lengua inglesa.
CG5: Comprehension and integration of massive and complex information obtained from different sources (articles, the internet, specialised journals, etc.), within different theoretical perspectives of English linguistics
Comprender e integrar información masiva y compleja procedente de diversas fuentes (artículos, Internet, revistas especializadas, etc.) dentro de distintas perspectivas teóricas de la lingüística inglesa.
CB6: Acquisition of knowledge that provides a solid background and opportunities to be original in the development and/or application of ideas, often in a research context

Breve descriptor:

Esta asignatura tiene como objetivo la adquisición de una perspectiva general de los conceptos fundamentales de la semántica y la pragmática, así como el conocimiento de varias teorías y su aplicación al discurso hablado y escrito en inglés.

This subject aims at the acquisition of a general perspective of the basic concepts of semantics and pragmatics, and at the students’ knowledge of a number theories and their application to authentic spoken and written discourse in English.

Objetivos

At the end of the course, students should have: 1. Acquired a general knowledge of the main approaches to the study of Semantics and Pragmatics. 2. Acquired a general understanding of the basic concepts and main issues involved in the semantic and pragmatic analysis of sentences/utterances and text and talk. 3. Developed the ability to carry out semantic and pragmatic analyses of samples of sentences/utterances and text and talk in English. 4. Become more effective in reading and developed critical and analytic skills.

Al final del curso, los estudiantes deberán haber: 1. Adquirido conocimientos generales de los enfoques de estudio principales de la semántica y la pragmática. 2. Adquirido comprensión general de los conocimientos básicos y cuestiones fundamentales involucradas en el análisis semántico y pragmático de oraciones / enunciados y discurso hablado y escrito. 3. Desarrollado la capacidad de llevar a cabo análisis semántico y pragmático de ejemplos de oraciones / enunciados y discurso hablado y escrito. 4. Ganado eficacia en la lectura y desarrollado destrezas críticas y analíticas.
