SINOPSIS

COMPETENCIAS

Generales
CG1 - Students will acquire a deeper and more specific knowledge of the disciplines inherent in North American Studies.
CG2 - Students will be able to use the preparation acquired as a resource and a reference model through which to adequately solve theoretical and practical questions related to the different areas of specialization that are achieved through the itineraries suggested in the program formative of this title.
CG3 - Students will be able to learn in a continuous, autonomous and self-directed way, developing new approaches and analytical methods within North American Studies.
CG4 - Students will learn about the latest innovations in the field of North American Studies.
CG5 - Students will acquire the necessary skills to carry out a research project.
CG6 - Students will apply the theoretical and analytical contributions from different fields of knowledge in favor of the same scientific objective during their participation in the sessions, through working groups, in written works and in their Master Dissertation.
CB6 - Possess and understand knowledge that provides a basis or opportunity to be original in the development and / or application of ideas, often in a research context
CB7 - That students know how to apply the acquired knowledge and their ability to solve problems in new or little-known environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their area of study.
CB8 - That students are able to integrate knowledge and face the complexity of making judgments based on information that, being incomplete or limited, includes reflections on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments.
Específicas
CE1 - Students will be able to question the validity of relativistic assertions about American idiosyncrasies.
CE2 - The students will be able to discern the different milestones of North American political and cultural history both in their dyschrony and in their synchrony.
CE3 - Students will be able to carry out a research work with an adequate structure, a clear writing, a solid argumentation and respecting all the norms of citation and relation of sources typical of this type of work and assimilating the theories or opinions expressed in others studies on the subject.
CE5 - Students will have the ability to interpret and evaluate all types of current North American texts (press, advertising, reports, communiqués, scientific or economic texts, ideological, historical, literary texts, etc.) revealing their ideology, their objectives, and its function.
CE6 - Students will have a global vision of transatlantic cultural, political and historical relations from the creation of New England to the present day.
CE7 - Students will be able to make inter and multidisciplinary approaches to American cultural constructs, regardless of their nature.

Breve descriptor:

El objetivo primordial de la asignatura es realizar un estudio y posterior análisis de los principales pilares sobre los que se fundamenta la política económica actual de los EEUU, tanto en un plano interno como en su vertiente externa.

The main aim of this course is to analyze the main pillars on which current US economic policy is based, both internally and externally.

Objetivos

Los objetivos generales para los estudiantes del Máster de Estudios Norteamericanos son los siguientes:
a) Que aprendan a manejar fuentes de información internacionales que le permitan adquirir competencias en la investigación de las políticas económicas Norteamericanas más relevantes;
b) Que adquieran conocimientos teóricos y empíricos sobre el rol de EEUU en la economía mundial; 
c) Que puedan analizar y valorar los retos de la economía Norteamericana en el contexto económico mundial (en especial, mediante la realización de pequeños trabajos prácticos); 
d) Que mejoren sus competencias instrumentales, entre ellas: d.1) capacidad de redactar, de manera ordenada y comprensible, análisis sobre la actualidad económica Norteamericana. d. 2) capacidad de compilar, interpretar y presentar información cualitativa y cuantitativa sobre la economía Norteamericana. d.3) Capacidad oral de transmitir y comunicar la información obtenida.

The main goals for the students of the Master of North American Studies are the following ones:
a) That they learn to handle international information sources that allow them to acquire competencies in the investigation of the most relevant North American economic policies;
b) That they acquire theoretical and empirical knowledge about the role of the United States in the world economy;
c) That they can analyze and assess the challenges of the North American economy in the world economic context (especially, by carrying out small practical tasks);
d) That they improve their instrumental skills, including: d.1) ability to write, in an orderly and understandable manner, analysis of the current North American economy. d.2) ability to compile, interpret and present qualitative and quantitative information about the North American economy. d.3) Oral ability to transmit and communicate the information obtained.

2. POLITICA ECONÓMICA AMERICANA: VERTIENTE INTERNA.
2.1 Análisis global de la competitividad de la economía Norteamericana
Análisis comparativo con sus principales competidores.
Análisis competitividad del sector turístico.
2.2 Marco institucional de la economía americana: Clima empresarial, mercado de trabajo, sistema de pensiones y de seguridad social, estructura administrativa, descentralización fiscal.
2.3 Política macroeconómica: política monetaria y fiscal
2.4 Política energética
2.5. Política medioambiental
3. POLITICA ECONÓMICA AMERICANA: VERTIENTE EXTERNA.
3.1 Política comercial multilateral: EEUU en la OMC. Sistema solución de diferencias comerciales.
3.2 Política Comercial de los EEUU con NAFTA
3.3 Política comercial de los EEUU con UE: el nuevo tratado TTIP.
3.4 Política comercial con países de la zona Asia Pacífico.
3.5 El papel de EEUU en las instituciones financieras Internacionales: FMI, Grupo Banco Mundial, Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, otros.
