Breve descriptor:
This course examines current issues in the theory and practice of English Language Teaching (ELT). It provides a comprehensive introduction to the specific approaches, methods, procedures, and techniques used in the teaching and learning of English as a Foreign Language/English as a Second Language (EFL/ESL), while addressing newer trends such as Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), English as a Lingua Franca (ELF), or gamification. Students will also learn to design activities, tasks, lesson plans for specific levels and learner needs, as well as dealing with the general notions of classroom management (e.g. interaction, discipline, motivation, etc.) and evaluation methods.
Objetivos
This course is mainly practical and oriented to help students become familiar with the concepts, approaches, and competencies related to the teaching of English as a foreign /second language (EFL /ESL).
Contenido
The syllabus covers the following contents: i) the role of English today (e.g. English as an international language and as a lingua franca), as well as its pedagogical implications; ii) several approaches and methodological perspectives in EFL, including reference to Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL); motivation, gamification and classroom discipline; iv) lesson planning and task development; v) teaching and evaluating language components and competencies: vocabulary, grammar, oral and written production and comprehension, and, vi) error correction and evaluation.

Self-study and online activities: 100-102 hours (between 66,7% and 68 % = between 4 and 4.08 ECTS), devoted to the following tasks:
