Career Insertion
The UCM has established a procedure for conducting graduate surveys and career placement tracking through the Qlick Sense application. Additionally, and in order to go further in establishing good practices, the Academic Commission of the PhD Programme in Chemical Engineering carries out a personalized follow-up of graduates each academic year, using in-house surveys. During the 2024-2025 academic year, more than 70% responded to the survey. Of these, 100% were working at the time the survey was conducted in teaching and/or research (60%), in the university environment or in research centers, or in the private sector (40%) working on topics closely related to their training. Furthermore, all expressed high satisfaction with the training received upon completion of their Doctoral studies.
During the 2023-24 academic year, more than 70% of graduates responded to the survey, and all of them were working in teaching and/or research. In the 2022-2023 academic year, 50% of graduates responded, and all were working in areas related to teaching or research, in the university environment or in research centers, linked to their doctoral training. In the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years, 33.33% of graduates responded, of which 90% were employed in teaching, research or the private sector.
The most senior graduates are invited to participate in the "Life after the PhD" cycle, with great willingness to participate and share with PDIQ students their work experience as a graduate doctor of the programme. In the 2023-24 academic year, this took place on July 5, 2024.
Fostering relationships with companies through: lectures given by companies at the PDIQ, sponsorship of PDIQ activities, open days, etc.
This year, doctoral students have been informed and encouraged to follow talks by various companies, mainly related to career opportunities, which have been held at the faculty as part of their activities calendar. Some of the most relevant for our doctoral students have been:
- February 28, 2024: "Discover your future in the pharmaceutical industry"
- April 17, 2024: "Técnicas Reunidas: informational meeting internship programme"
In summary, graduates of the Doctoral Programme are usually quickly integrated into the labour market, mainly in areas related to teaching or research, in the university environment or in research centers, and show high satisfaction with the training received in the PhD Programme in Chemical Engineering.
