Admission Criteria and Selection of PDIQ Students

Students who meet the requirements detailed above may apply for admission to the Doctoral Programme, for which a pre-enrolment period will be established: https://edoctorado.ucm.es/admision. The application must be submitted in the place and manner indicated in the call. Once this period has ended, the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme (CAPD), whose composition and characteristics are described in detail in sections 5.2 and 5.1, will draw up the proposal of admitted students, together with the corresponding waiting list, in accordance with the selection criteria established in the Programme.

The aforementioned proposal shall be considered a provisional list of admitted students and must be made public.

The CAPD will analyse admission applications, assessing the following aspects and merits:

  • Suitability of prior Bachelor's (or official qualifications granting or enabling access to Master's studies) and Master's training (DEA or research sufficiency) and the grades obtained (60%) — This will be the main criterion, weighted at 40% for Bachelor's training and grades, and 20% for the corresponding Master's.
  • Research activity carried out and its results (10%) — Publications and communications: 5%; Relevance to the Doctoral Programme's research lines: 5%.
  • Other credentials accredited in the candidate's CV (10%) — Professional experience: 4%; Research stays: 4%; Courses completed: 2%.
  • Personal interview with the CAPD (20%) — Motivation and aptitude: 5%; CV content: 5%; Profile alignment with the Programme's research groups: 5%; Communication skills and languages: 3%; Other: 2%.

A B2 level of English is recommended.

Admission to the Programme requires a minimum score of 60/100.

The same criteria apply to admit all students, regardless of whether their dedication is full-time or part-time.

The CAPD will evaluate in detail applications from students with specific educational needs arising from disability. In these cases, the necessary support mechanisms will be established during the admission process so that the student can successfully complete their studies, and possible curricular adaptations will be considered on an individual basis.
