Gregorio Martín de Castro is a University Professor in the Department of Business Organisation at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), specialising in Environmental Strategy and Sustainability, Knowledge Management, Intellectual Capital and Reputation, where he currently teaches Principles of Business Management in English (1st year undergraduate course), Strategic Management (4th year undergraduate course) and Business Growth Strategies (Master's Degree in Business Management Research, Marketing and Accounting). He holds a PhD in Business Management (2004) from the UCM and is a member of the research group Dirección Estratégica de la Empresa: Conocimiento, Innovación y Medio Ambiente (UCM). He is a member of the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme in Business Administration and Management and the Doctoral Programme in Data Science, both at the UCM.

He has twenty-two years of university experience in Spain, carried out in two centres: Colegio Universitario de Segovia, (2000-2002) and UCM (2002-present). He has been a guest lecturer at undergraduate and postgraduate level at the following universities: University of Piura (Peru 2008, 2012, 2012, 2016, 2018), Universidad Mayor San Marcos (Peru, 2013), Troyes University (France, 2014), University of Havana (Cuba, 2015), Uniminuto (Colombia, 2015), Universidad Tres Febrero (Buenos Aires, 2017), Universidad ESAN (Peru, 2017 and 2018), University of Cartagena (Colombia, 2017, 2022), Russian Presidential Academy of Economy and Public Administration (Russia, 2017), University Babes-Bolyai (Romania, 2018), University Paris Pantheon 1-Sorbonne (France, 2018), University of Barcelona (2020, 2021, 2022).

He has carried out research stays as a research fellow and visiting scholar at the following universities: Harvard-RCC (2004-2005); Manchester-MIoIR (2009); Southern California-Marshall SB (2011, 2018); U.C.L.A. (2013, 2015); Piura (2016); Edinburgh (2019); and Vermont (2022-preview).

His research interests focus on the study of the environmental sustainability of the company, as well as business strategy based on knowledge management and intellectual capital, with special emphasis on innovation and business reputation. These topics have been researched with the support of various competitive projects of the National R&D&I Plan in Spain. He is currently a member of the commission of the European Project UNA Europa. UNA Resin H2020, within the UNA EUROPA alliance of universities (Complutense, Sorbonne, Bologna, Edinburgh, Catholic University of Leuven, Free University of Berlin, Jagiellonian University of Krakow, etc).

He has received several research awards, including Highly Commended Awards granted by Emerald Publishing (London) in 2011 (Journal of Knowledge Management) and in 2020 (Journal of Intellectual Capital), or the Research Award for the Best CSR Research in Ibero-America, Red de Cátedras RSC Sanander Universidades (Salamanca) in 2017. His publications include several articles published in high impact journals and ranking in the SSCI and SCI of the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), such as Business Strategy and the Environment, Journal of Cleaner Production, Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Technovation, Journal of Business Ethics, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Knowledge Management, or Journal of Intellectual Capital, among others.

He is Chairman of the Business and Society Section of ACEDE (Spanish Academy of Management), Associate Editor of Business Research Quarterly and a member of the editorial staff of Industrial Marketing Management and Innovar Journal.
