Paula Lobato Díez holds a Bachelor Degree in English Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master’s Degree in EFL Teacher Training for Secondary Education (Distinction) from the Autonomous University of Madrid. During her undergraduate years, she participated in several initiatives such as the non-English literatures extra-curricular seminar or the Innovative Teaching Project n.158 “Europe VS. Africa: debates and perspectives”. She has also been awarded several distinctions: the Baccalaureate Excellence Award and honors in 6 undergraduate modules, as well as an Erasmus+ Scholarship at Maynooth University (2019, Ireland), where she was given the opportunity to take part in their “Irish Cultural Heritage Certificate”, oriented toward Irish archeology, mythology and literature. Her international mobility fueled her determination to be educated from all possible angles, which led her toward her path as a local volunteer in Erasmus Student Network. Moreover, she is an experienced EFL Teacher, a part-time job she has combined with her studies.

During her Master of Education, she received a scholarship to initiate postgraduate studies and was granted a Collaboration Scholarship at the Department of Philologies and their Didactic (2021-2022, Spanish Ministry of Education). There, she developed and published literary activity packs meant to foster ICC in non-bilingual Baccalaureate students through original literary works. This initiative was also framed within her Master’s Dissertation, which was awarded with honors.

In June 2022, she published her first paper in the field of Literary Research with JACLR, where she serves as Postgraduate Editor since September 2022. Nonetheless, following her taste for other non-academic forms of literature and art, her first creative work was featured in the Guacamayo #7 poetic anthology by the Cultural Collective Ojos De Sol, back in 2019.

She is currently carrying out research for a MA in British Studies (2022-2024) in the Centre for British Studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin. Thanks to it, she hopes to work on an extensive thesis and enjoy an internship period in the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland. Her academic interests revolve around Romanticism, the Gothic genre and the Victorian era. Nevertheless, she is also passionate about Myth-criticism, intertextual studies and the figure of national heroes in the cultural imaginary of states such as the UK.

Paula Lobato Díez es graduada en Estudios Ingleses por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y también cuenta con un Máster en Formación de Profesorado de ESO y Bachillerato en la especialidad de inglés (Distinción) por la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Durante su experiencia en el grado, participó en iniciativas como el Seminario anual de Literatura Hispanoamericana o el Proyecto de Innovación Docente nº 158 “Europa y África frente a frente: debates y perspectivas”. También ha obtenido diversas distinciones: matrícula de honor en Bachillerato y 6 matrículas de honor en el grado, además de la experiencia de una beca Erasmus+ en la Universidad de Maynooth (2019, Irlanda) donde pudo cursar asignaturas del Certificado propio “Irish Cultural Heritage”, enfocado hacia la arqueología, mitología y literatura irlandesas. La movilidad internacional impulsó su afán por formarse desde todos los ángulos posibles, lo que condujo su camino hacia el voluntariado local en Erasmus Student Network. A su vez, cuenta con años de experiencia enseñando inglés como lengua extranjera.

Durante el Máster de Educación, recibió una Beca de Ayuda a inicio de Posgrado debido a su expediente y fue Becaria de Colaboración del Departamento de Filologías y su Didáctica (2021-2022), para el que produjo una serie de packs literarios, publicados por la UAM, con el objetivo de trabajar la Competencia Intercultural con alumnos de Bachillerato en programas no bilingües a través de obras literarias sin adaptar. Su Trabajo de Fin de Máster también se enmarcó en dicha propuesta y fue calificado con Matrícula de Honor. No obstante, encontrando inspiración en fuentes no-académicas, su primera publicación se remonta a septiembre de 2019 en la antología poética Guacamayo #7 del Colectivo Cultural Ojos de Sol. En junio de 2022 publicó su primer trabajo de investigación literaria de la mano del JACLR, donde es Editora de Posgrado desde Septiembre de 2022.

Actualmente cursa un Máster en Estudios Británicos (2022-2024) en el Centro de Estudios Británicos de la Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Allí espera trabajar en una extensa tesis y realizar prácticas en el Reino Unido o la República de Irlanda. Sus intereses académicos abarcan el Romanticismo, el género gótico y la época victoriana. No obstante, también es apasionada de la mitocrítica, los estudios intertextuales y la figura de los héroes nacionales en el imaginario cultural de estados como el Reino Unido.
