David Martínez Hernández holds the Chair of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the UCM Faculty of Medicine. Since 4 October 2017.

He began his research career working in the field of Infection Related to Healthcare, and over the last 15 years, Socio-economic Inequalities in Health.

He was Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the UCM from November 2004 to January 2018.

Since January 2018 he has been the Director of the Department of Public Health and Maternal and Infant Care.

He has served as the President of the External Panel for the Evaluation of Doctorate Programmes and the renewal of official doctorate teaching accreditation of the ANECA (National Quality and Accreditation Evaluation Agency).

He is the President of the Health Science Branch Commission of the Degree and Master's Verification Modification Programme of the University Accreditation and Evaluation Area of the Department of Evaluation and Accreditation. Andalusian Knowledge Agency of the Regional Government Department of Economy, Knowledge, Enterprise and University.

He has so far had 4 six-year research terms and 1 six-year transfer term recognised, and 4 five-year terms.

He has been Director of more than 30 doctoral theses, and has given more than 70 courses and seminars.

Involved in numerous funded Research Projects.

He has published more than 130 scientific publications nationally and internationally and more than 30 books, monographs and book chapters connected with Public Health.

Involved in over 100 communications at scientific congresses.
