Clizia Carminati

Clizia Carminati studied at Scuola Normale Superiore de Pisa and teaches italian literatura at University since 2009. As a researcher she has made several stays in prestigious academic centers such as Oxford, Paris, Trento, Freiburg (Switzerland) and Villa I Tatti - Center for Italian Renaissance Studies at Harvard University.

She has dedicated her studies to the Renaissance and Modern Age, with editions of texts, monographs and essays on poetics, lyric poetry, novel, political writing, biography and autobiography, the Inquisition and the censorship of books, Italo-Iberian literary relations in the 17th century, the academies, the narrative poem and epistolography.

She is the autor of the monography Giovan Battista Marino tra Inquisizione e censura (Roma-Padova, Editrice Antenore, 2008) and has published Tradizione, imitazione, modernità. Tasso e Marino visti dal Seicento (Pisa, ETS, 2020). Among the works she is currently developing, we can mention the critical and annotated edition of the family letters of Giovan Battista Marino.

She founded and coordinates (with Paolo Procaccioli y Emilio Russo) the project Archilet (www.archilet.it). She directs the Bergamo Research Unit of the Programs of Relevant National Interest “Repertorio epistolare del Cinquecento” and “Mecenatismo, arti e lettere tra Cinque e Seicento”, from which the digital project Arti sorelle (www.artisorelle.it) was born. She is co-director of the "Biblioteca del Rinascimento e del Barocco" (Bologna, I libri di Emil), of the critical and annotated edition of the Opere di Giovan Battista Marino (Roma, Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura, BIT&S), of the journal Esperienze letterarie, and co-directs with Davide Conrieri the journal  Studi secenteschi (Florencia, Olschki). In 2020 he obtained the second level diploma in Historical, Critical and Analytical Disciplines of Music at the "Santa Cecilia" Conservatory in Rome. He is a founding and active member, and of the Steering Committee of ITIBER (Interuniversity Center for Italo-Iberian Studies). He is a corresponding member of the Accademia dell'Arcadia under the name of Fidalma Partenide.
