Carmen Caffarel Serra

Born in Barcelona, ​​she has been a professor of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid), since 2002. She was general director of Radio Televisión Española (RTVE) from April 2004 to 15 January  2007; director of the Instituto Cervantes from 2007 to 2012; member of the Board of Directors of Telemadrid (2016-20189). PhD cum laude in Hispanic Linguistics (Hispanic Philology Section) from the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid, in whose Faculty of Communication Sciences she was a full professor of Communication Theory and Research Methods. She was Vice Dean of Students, Internal Communication and International Relations of the Faculty of Information Sciences of the Complutense University (1994-1998) and deputy vice-dean for Students and International Relations of the Rey Juan Carlos University (2002-2002).

She was Ci of several competitive projects and is currently responsible for the "Maps of communication research in Spanish Universities from 2007-2018", National programme for the generation of knowledge and scientific and technological strengthening of the r & d + i system, national subprogramme for knowledge generation. Her lines of research focus on: Meta-research in Communication; structure of the media, public television, communication and culture system. She obtained four six-year terms (one transfer) and six five-year teaching periods and is currently the director of the Department of Communication Sciences and Sociology of the URJC
