Diana Kingsley Thomas
My name is Diana Kingsley Thomas, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in English Linguistics at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), under the supervision of Dr. Davinia Sánchez García.
I hold a Master’s degree in teaching English as a Foreign Language from the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja, where my research focused on self-regulated learning in higher education. In 2024, I was awarded a Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy (UK).
For the past 15 years, I have been working as an ESP (English for Specific Purposes) and EAP (English for Academic Purposes) lecturer at a private business university in Spain. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I also serve as a tutor for undergraduate end-of-year theses (TFGs) and internship programs (Prácticas de Empresa).
In 2025, I was a member of the Organising Committee for the 54th Annual Conference of the European Marketing Academy (EMAC), held in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid, under the theme "Human and Smart Marketing: Understanding and Enhancing Our Future." I was a core member of the organising team, contributing to the planning and execution of the event over the past year.
My doctoral research focuses on feedback literacy in higher education, specifically within an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) context. I employ an intervention-based design that incorporates formative, scaffolded, and structured feedback engagement strategies. The goal is to enhance students’ feedback literacy behaviours, particularly in writing assessments, ultimately leading to improved academic writing outcomes.
Additionally, I am collaborating with a colleague in the Ethics department on a research article exploring fast fashion from an itinerant perspective. My role was to design an intervention to assess whether students’ perceptions of fast fashion can be influenced through targeted educational strategies. The article is currently under peer review.
