I am Anda-Lucía Ciltan and I am currently a full-time PhD student in English Linguistics under an international joint supervision between Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Bucharest. My PhD research looks into the semantics and pragmatics of deontic modality; more precisely, it is a contrastive study which focuses on commissive strategies in English, Spanish and Romanian. Consequently, my research field comprises pragmatics and intercultural linguistics.
I hold a B.A. in English and Spanish as Applied Modern Languages and two M.A.s, one in English Linguistics, and the other in Hispanic Studies. I am currently working as an English teacher at a Language Academy.
So far, I have presented a paper entitled “The progressive in L3 Spanish in an L1 Romanian L2 English Setting” at the international conference named 6th Bucharest Colloquium of Language Acquisition on the 16th of November 2019 and I have been accepted with many more contributions to various national and international journals and conferences which are to be held.
