CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS: Cognitive and Cultural Linguistics, Age Studies, Contrastive Linguistics & Translation, Age Studies, Female Childhoods

PhD SUPERVISION EXPERIENCE: Supervised 7 doctoral dissertations since 1994, one of them co-supervised and two of them awarded the Special Dissertation Award (Premio Extraordinario). Ongoing dissertations on the use of similes in the construction of literary characters,  on heritage languages in multilingual settings; on concept of inalienable possession from a cognitive perspective and on Learners’ identity narratives in English as a second language. 

I WOULD WELCOME DISSERTATION PROPOSALS FROM CANDIDATES WORKING ON: (a) Age as a cultural concept from a diachronic or synchronic perspective (English or English-Spanish in contrast), (b) Cognitive and Cultural Linguistics as applied to the History of English, and (c) English-Spanish translation.

ONGOING RESEARCH PROJECT. Female childhood across borders. A Cultural Linguistics approach to the English-based conceptualization and perception of female childhood. Evidence from biographical discourse 1750-1900. (FemChildLing). Referencia: PID2020-117973GB-I00
