CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS: Functional linguistics; Stylistics, Linguistic Criticism and Literary Pragmatics; Narratology and storytelling; Semiotics and Multimodality; Discourse and cultural studies.

PhD SUPERVISION EXPERIENCE: I have supervised two theses since 1998 (on spatial prepositions in English and Spanish from a cognitive perspective and on invitations in Palestinian Arabic and American English from a socio-pragmatic approach). Currently supervising four theses (on Northern Ireland tourist posters from a semiotic and historical approach, the discourse construction of the image of Russia in the UK and US press, literary linguistics and high order thinking skills in CLIL subjects in primary education)
