Master's Degrees

Entry requirements

In order to access postgraduate studies, it will be necessary to hold an official university foundation degree, Bachelor’s degree, Engineering degree, Architect’s degree, Diploma, Technical Engineering degree, Technical Architect’s degree or equivalent, or a degree that is considered suitable for access by the Committee for Postgraduate Studies and Continuing Education. Likewise, university graduates from foreign education systems may also gain access without the need to have their degrees recognised, provided that they can accredit a level of training equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degrees and that they are recognised in the country issuing the degree for access to postgraduate studies. Access by this route will not imply, under any circumstances, the homologation of the prior degree held by the interested party, nor its recognition for purposes other than that of studying the Master’s degree. The Committee for Postgraduate Studies and Continuing Education may exempt candidates for postgraduate studies from the requirement of the corresponding degree by analysing the documentation accrediting notable professional experience and guaranteeing the achievement of the competencies of the entry profile in the field of activities of the course.

Admission is also open to those who hold a degree similar to those indicated in the preceding paragraph, issued by a higher education institution of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and which entitles the holder to access Master’s degree courses in the country issuing the degree; provided that an excellent command of Spanish is accredited.

Admission to the Inter-University Master's Degree in Audiovisual Translation and Localisation is subject to the regulations set out in Royal Decrees 55/2005, 56/2005 and 1393/2007, by which students may access any official postgraduate programme related scientifically or otherwise to their university curriculum and at any university, subject to prior admission informed by the body responsible for the programme in question.

Specifically, as indicated in article 16, on Access to official master’s degree courses, of RD 13393/2007, in order to access the Inter-University Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Translation and Localisation, it will be necessary:

  1. To be in possession of an official Spanish university degree or another degree issued by a higher education institution of the European Higher Education Area that entitles the holder to access the master's degree in the country issuing the degree.

  2. Graduates from educational systems outside the EHEA will need to accredit a level of training equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish degrees and which entitle the holder to access postgraduate studies in the country issuing the degree. Access by this route will not imply, under any circumstances, the homologation of the prior degree held by the interested party, nor its recognition for purposes other than that of studying for the Master’s degree.

The Coordinating Committee of the Postgraduate Course in Translation may appoint an Admissions Committee to establish the criteria to be taken into account when selecting new students for admission to the Degree. In addition to the academic transcript and curriculum vitae, personal interviews may be held. It is possible to apply for admission without having completed the entrance studies. In any case, the accreditation of the studies completed will be subject to the condition that the completion of the studies required as a condition of access is prior to the end of the academic year following that of the corresponding degree in which the student is enrolled.
