Margarita Navarro Pérez

Dr. Margarita Navarro Pérez holds a PhD in English Cultural Studies (Universidad de Murcia, 2015) and works as a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Modern Languages at UCAM - Catholic University of Murcia. She is currently teaching several modules at undergraduate (Modern Languages and Primary Education) and graduate level (Bilingual Education MA and TESOL). Her main research interests are the representation and interpretation of the moving image, questions of national identity, ethnicity, civil wars, belonging and the impact of media in the constructions of cultural identities. She has performed two research stays at the Centre for Research in Media and Cultural Studies (University of Sunderland, UK). She has published several book chapters, on cultural studies and L2 learning, with Cambridge Scholars Publishing and Aracne Editrice. Her papers, delivered at national and international conferences, mainly focus on the teaching of culture, national identity, politics, and the study of sitcoms. More recently, she delivered a lecture –as a guest speaker– within the IDEA Seminar Series “Literary Journalism and the Spanish Civil War”, held at Université de Lorraine.
