Committee on Animal Testing

The Committee was created by a Rector’s decision on 15 December 2004, thus following what is established in the University"s statutes (article 180 – Decree 58/2003, 8 May 2003).

The Committee is responsible for writing any required report on the use of animals in scientific experiments, and more specifically on the use of animals in research projects.

Therefore, as of April 15th 2004, this Committee is the only one qualified to draw up reports on animal testing. The Committee has prepared a set of specific forms to be filled in with the necessary information for these reports.

As stated in the introductory document on the forms, the Committee does not intend to hinder the researcher"s performance, but to guarantee that the experiments meet deontological and ethical criteria, and thus protect researchers from possible criticism and external complaints.
