Abstract

Accessibility is a key concept in transport geography. It may be defined as the easy-to-reach desired destinations by means of a specific transport system. Accessibility is of great importance from the point of view of both regional development and social welfare. It depends to a great extent on the building of transport infrastructures, which in turn influences land use and mobility. A wide variety of indicators are extensively used to measure accessibility from different angles, both in transport planning and in urban and regional planning. In recent years, the appearance of new sources of data has opened up new opportunities and challenges in the study and application of accessibility.
