Objetivos
Al finalizar el curso, se espera que el estudiante se familiarice con las principales tendencias, enfoques y líneas de investigación actuales en el ámbito de la lingüística inglesa. El objetivo es proporcionar una visión general crítica y actualizada que sirva como inspiración y punto de partida para futuros trabajos de investigación, tales como Trabajos de Fin de Grado, Trabajos de Fin de Máster o tesis doctorales. El estudiante desarrollará competencias para identificar temas emergentes, comprender sus implicaciones metodológicas y valorar su relevancia dentro del panorama académico contemporáneo.
By the end of the course, students are expected to become familiar with key trends, approaches, and current lines of research in the field of English linguistics. The course aims to provide a critical and up-to-date overview that may serve as inspiration and a foundation for future research projects, such as undergraduate or masters theses, or doctoral dissertations. Students will develop the ability to identify emerging topics, understand their methodological implications, and assess their significance within the contemporary academic landscape.
Contenido
El curso abordará las principales líneas de investigación contemporánea en lingüística inglesa, incluyendo la lingüística de corpus, la pragmática intercultural, el análisis crítico del discurso, la lingüística forense o la adquisición del inglés como lengua extranjera. Se prestará especial atención a las metodologías emergentes, al uso de tecnologías digitales aplicadas a la investigación lingüística y a la interrelación entre lenguaje, identidad y sociedad. Las sesiones combinarán el análisis crítico de estudios recientes con la participación activa del alumnado en proyectos de investigación en curso, fomentando la reflexión sobre su aplicabilidad e interés para futuros trabajos académicos.
The course will examine key areas of contemporary research in English linguistics, including corpus linguistics, intercultural pragmatics, critical discourse analysis, forensic linguistics, or the acquisition of English as a foreign language. Special emphasis will be placed on emerging methodologies, the use of digital technologies in linguistic research, and the intersection between language, identity, and society. Sessions will combine critical analysis of recent studies with active student engagement in ongoing research projects, encouraging reflection on their potential relevance and applicability to future academic work.
Evaluación
o el instructor pueda llevar a cabo, la realización de actividades y trabajos prácticos relacionados con los conocimientos
adquiridos y/o las herramientas utilizadas.
La evaluación será continuada a lo largo del curso y se realizará una prueba o actividad práctica final. Se valorará la participación
en clase, la cooperación en grupo, la realización puntual de las diversas tareas, la presentación de resultados de ejercicios
prácticos y la calidad de los ejercicios y proyectos presentados.
Assessment will have a highly practical character, including, in addition to the results obtained in the tests that the instructor o the
instructor can carry out, the realization of activities and practical works related to the knowledge purchased and/or the tools used.
Assessment will be continued throughout the course and a final test or practical task will be carried out. Class participation, group
cooperation, task completion, that presentation of results of practical exercises and the quality of the exercises and projects
presented will be valued.
