Estimados miembros del IMI:
Poco a poco vamos recuperando la actividad semanal habitual. Lo más inmediato que tenemos pendiente es el cierre del periodo de inscripción en los Premios de Modelización Matemática del IMI, que termina el lunes 14 a las 14:00. Os animo con fuerza a que lo comentéis en vuestras clases, estimulando a los estudiantes a participar. Es importante que lo deis a conocer personalmente, ya que muchos alumnos con interés en esta competición no son conscientes de que se tienen que registrar para participar, y que el plazo termina en breve. El evento está publicado por todas partes, incluyendo la portada de la web de la UCM y de la Facultad de Matemáticas.
Con el fin de multiplicar nuestro poder de difusión, acabamos de estrenarnos con una cuenta institucional en LinkedIn (IMI en LinkedIn), donde nos daremos a conocer y publicaremos las actividades semanales que organicemos.

2) Activities from 10 September to 18 September
Premios de Modelización Matemática del IMI-UCM 2026
Dirigido a estudiantes de grado de las universidades participantes (ver página web para consultar). Los equipos podrán estar formados por entre 1 y 3 integrantes. El período de inscripción es del 1 al 14 de septiembre. El problema se presentará el 2 de octubre y su resolución deberá entregarse entre el 2 y el 6 de octubre. La ceremonia de entrega de premios será el día 24 de noviembre.
Todos los detalles de la inscripción y de la competición están recogidos en la convocatoria completa del Boletín Oficial de la Universidad Complutense, o el extracto del Boletín Oficial de la Comunidad de Madrid. Se puede consultar también la web del evento.

5) Integral Challenge
Estimulado por el éxito del concurso “Premio de Integración Rápida”, el IMI ha decidido poner en marcha una sección específica dedicada al siempre desafiante tema de la integración. Más que proponer integrales (indefinidas) de resolución rápida, el propósito de esta sección es plantear tipos de integrales interesantes que estén profundamente vinculadas con múltiples áreas de las matemáticas, desde la teoría de funciones especiales hasta problemas geométricos y métodos numéricos. Algunas de las integrales propuestas están lejos de poder resolverse mediante métodos convencionales; por el contrario, requieren una combinación de diferentes enfoques e incluso el uso de técnicas más sofisticadas. No obstante, esperamos que los lectores se diviertan tanto resolviendo estos desafíos como los editores al proponerlos.
Stimulated by the succcessful competition “Premio de Integración Rápida”, the IMI has decided to initiate a specific section concerning the always challenging subject of integration. More than quickly-to-be-solved (indefinite) integrals, the purpose of this section is to propose interesting types of integrals that are deeply connected with many areas of mathematics, from the theory of special functions to geometric problems and numerical methods. Some of the integrals proposed are far from being solved by a standard method, but require a combination of different approaches and even the use of more sophisticated techniques. However, it is hoped that the readers have as much fun in solving the challenges as the Editors in proposing them.
