The Complutense University of Madrid appears among the 500 best universities in the world in all the subject areas considered, which THE categorizes as: Social Sciences, Law, Education, and Business and Economics.
Specifically, the UCM ranks between 101 and 125 worldwide for Law, between 176 and 200 for Education, and between 401-500 in Social Sciences and in Business and Economic Sciences. Therefore, the UCM consolidates its position in the new edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking, one of the most prestigious in the world in the evaluation of university quality and reputation prepared by the British magazine Times Higher Education (THE), where the quality of teaching and research are confirmed as the main strengths of the Complutense, standing above 80%.
In the 2019 edition, the Complutense University of Madrid has improved its position with respect to previous years, ranking 401-500 out of a total of 1,258 academic institutions included.
The THE ranking assesses universities according to five fundamental axes: teaching, research, the impact of the research carried out in the institution, the income derived from industry, and the international orientation of the university. The UCM has stood out for its research and, above all, for the quality of its teaching, being above 80% of the rest of the universities in the ranking.
At a national level, the 2019 edition places the Complutense in sixth position out of the total of 38 Spanish universities participating in this ranking.
