SAN LORENZO DE EL ESCORIAL

R.C.U. MARÍA CRISTINA

The classic Real Centro Universitario Escorial - María Cristina becomes the heart of the Summer Courses of the Complutense University.

The centre was founded by Philip the Second and refounded by Queen Maria Cristina of Habsburg and Lorraine as the Royal Centre of Higher Studies in 1982. It is currently a centre attached to the Universidad Complutense of Madrid.

For years, the inauguration of the Summer Courses has been celebrated in its Aula Magna. From this edition onwards, it becomes the very centre of our summer activity.

In addition to the classrooms for the celebration of the different activities, this venue will house speakers and students.

All students who are offer a scholarship will be accommodated in shared rooms.

HOTEL MIRANDA-SWITZERLAND

In the centre of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and a few metres away from the Monastery and the María Cristina Royal University Centre is the Hotel Miranda-Suizo, another of our headquarters.

Its origins date back to the 19th century, then known as Fonda de San Luis, where Isabel II, among other illustrious characters, stayed on their way to exile.

THE HOUSE OF THE CULTURE

Another of our headquarters will be the House of The Culture (Casa de la Cultura) which has two rooms where courses will be taught and a library.

The House of The Culture, located in the centre of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, will also host various cultural activities, mainly exhibitions.

TRANSPORT

Those registered as listeners in the courses held in El Escorial will have a voucher that will allow them to use the free bus service Madrid-San Lorenzo de El Escorial-Madrid. The bus will leave from Monday to Friday from Fernández de los Ríos street, corner with Isaac Peral (Metro Moncloa) at 8:30 am and will return to Madrid at 18:20 pm from the door of the RCU María Cristina, Paseo de los Alamillos nº2. Outside these hours and the established stops, the voucher will not be valid and the bus service will have to be paid for by the students.
