About us

This website brings together two pioneering projects from the Complutense University of Madrid dedicated to the in-depth analysis of phenomena crucial to our societies: information disorders and polarization. We pay special attention to their profound impact on democracy, press freedom, media, and the right to information. Both initiatives have been funded by European funds (Erasmus+) aimed at strengthening learning, teaching, research, and professional development, in line with the values of social cohesion and citizen participation promoted by the European Union.

Centre of Excellence (CoE): Press-Forward

The Press-Forward Centre of Excellence (CoE) is a leading research hub focused on the newest aspects of the right to information within the European digital ecosystem. This ecosystem is a complex space where century-old press coexists with digital-native media, networks, and even pseudomedia and influencers. The objective of this Centre is to develop synergies between different disciplines, rethink the values of European democracy, and understand the role of European Digital Law at a key moment for digital platforms (mainly TikTok, Telegram, X, and Meta).

Jean Monnet Chair: Decoding-i-Disorders

The overarching goal of the Jean Monnet Chair, Decoding-i-Disorders, is to contribute to the strengthening of digital competencies in education and training. Its core mission is to identify and analyze the phenomena that hinder or prevent undergraduate and postgraduate students from exercising their rights to be adequately informed, communicate effectively, critically consume content, and create and disseminate digital educational materials.

Meet the Leader

Both projects are led by Loreto Corredoira, an accredited Professor of Information Law (Constitutional Law) at the Faculty of Information Sciences, Constitutional Law Department of the Complutense University of Madrid. She holds a PhD in Information Law and a degree in Law. She is also a lawyer (non-practicing) and a journalist.
