Marta Martín del Rey

Ramón y Cajal researcher

I received my PhD from the University Complutense of Madrid in 2015. Then, I continued my research career in France, working as postdoctoral researcher in LOCEAN-IPSL (Paris, 2015-Sep 2017) and CERFACS (Toulouse, Oct 2017-2018). In 2019, I got an individual Marie Sklodowska Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship that allowed me to come back to Spain as researcher at the Instituto de Ciencias del Mar (ICM-CSIC, Barcelona). I returned to TROPA group in 2021 thanks to a postdoctoral Juan de la Cierva Incorporación grant and from 2024, I am a Ramón y Cajal researcher.

My research expertise is focused on tropical climate variability in the Atlantic and Pacific basin, especially, in air-sea interactions, ocean dynamics and teleconnections. I am also interested in the climate-health linkages, particularly, in climate-driven infectious diseases in Africa (i.e: Meningitis, Dengue, HIV, Cholera). I have participated in more than 20 projects among national and international projects, cooperation projects in West Africa and projects of innovative education. I have several scientific publications on my research lines that can see in my LIST OF PUBLICATIONS.
