¿Es posible reflexionar e investigar sobre el ESPACIO, el GÉNERO, el ARTE en la ciudad en un formato online?
¿Qué puede aportar la JUSTICIA ESPACIAL, INCLUSIÓN E IGUALDAD en un curso interdisciplinar sobre la ciudad?
¿Es posible un INTERCAMBIO VIRTUAL ENTRE ESTUDIANTES de tres países significativo e interdisciplinar?
El curso STROLL nace de la colaboración entre cuatro entidades, la ONG ARTEMISSZIO ALAPITVANY (Hungría) y las universidades de THESSALY (Grecia), la EOTVOS LORAND TUDOMANYEGYETEM (Hungría) y la UNIVERSIDAD COMPLUTENSE DE MADRID. Especialistas, académicos/as y profesionales de diferentes ámbitos (la antropología, la educación, el arte, los estudios urbanos, la historia o la geografía) han generado este espacio de intercambio docente y de aprendizaje en el Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior, y específicamente en la era COVID. La movilidad y el intercambio de estudiantes, así como la digitalización de contenidos es un reto en esta nueva etapa donde lo online y virtual es nuestro espacio común.
En este contexto surge el curso STROLL donde 24 estudiantes de tres países tendrán la oportunidad de participar en esta experiencia piloto y única, que pretender dar un paso adelante en las metodologías y procesos de enseñanza universitaria, generando un intercambio virtual significativo y favoreciendo un conocimiento interdisciplinar y creativo en lo virtual.

Introducción:
El curso aborda la ciudad como tema central. Esta exploración creativa e interdisciplinar, nos permitirá abordar la ciudad desde una perspectiva holística, y amplia, reflexionando sobre nuestra vida cotidiana y colectiva. Dado el amplísimo campo de investigación, se priorizarán cuatro ejes temáticos: el espacio urbano, la perspectiva de género en la ciudad, el arte en la ciudad y el vivir en la ciudad. El hilo común que conectará estos elementos aparentemente dispersos será el compromiso de cuestionar en todas partes la posibilidad de la justicia social, inclusión e igualdad.
Para ello, los estudiantes visitarán virtualmente tres ciudades europeas: Budapest (Hungría), Larisa (Grecia) y Madrid (España), donde aprenderán teóricamente sobre los cuatro temas y realizarán trabajo de campo para descubrir la sociedad europea mirando la ciudad a través de estos prismas.
Objetivos:
Al final del curso los estudiantes serán capaces de:
- Manejar conceptos clave relacionados con la investigación interdisciplinar en la ciudad.·
- Conocer autores/as relevantes en este campo, conocerán sus aportes teóricos y serán capaces de aplicar este conocimiento teórico a su propio ámbito de interés (espacio urbano, género, arte, …).
- Adquirir habilidades etnográficas básicas, como observar, llevar un diario, entrevistar.
- Aplicar diferentes métodos creativos de exploración de la ciudad: mapeo, fotovoz, dibujo de datos.
- Adquirir una valiosa experiencia sobre cómo realizar una investigación colectiva a partir de preguntas de investigación, recopilación de datos, su interpretación y la presentación de los hallazgos.
Además, durante todo el proceso, y ya que en el curso participarán estudiantes de universidades de tres países diferentes, también aprenderán a participar y colaborar en grupos internacionales, así como a integrar la diversidad cultural y practicarán habilidades de comunicación intercultural y ejercerán la gestión cooperativa de tareas.
Estructura del curso:
- Duración: Del 14 Febrero al 30 Mayo
- Lunes de 15 a 16:30 h (online): Teoría y métodos
- Miércoles de 15 a 16:30 (offline las dos primeras semanas y online el resto de semanas): Laboratorios/seminarios de investigación en pequeños grupos.
Contenidos:
- MÓDULO INTRODUCTORIO:
Los colegas de la asociación ARTEMITZSIO de Budapest presentarán las bases para explorar el espacio urbano desde la perspectiva y enfoque antropológico, a través de métodos como "virtual mapping" y “reflective journal”.
- MÓDULO 1: Intercambio virtual en Budapest (Hungría)
El equipo de la Universidad EOTVOS LORAND TUDOMANYEGYETEM (Hungría), especialistas en interculturalidad e identidad, presentará la temática gendered city, generando un espacio de debate en la ciudad con metodologías como el "fotovoz".
- MÓDULO 2: Intercambio virtual en Larisa (Grecia)
El equipo especialistas en estudios urbanos de la Universidad de THESSALY (Grecia), presentarán la temática living in the city, reflexionando sobre el uso (cotidiano y colectivo) de los espacios en la ciudad e invitando a generar espacios alternativos ("pocket park") a través de la exploración virtual de las ciudades y su realidad.
- MÓDULO 3: Intercambio virtual el Madrid (España)
El equipo interdisciplinar de la UNIVERSIDAD COMPLUTENSE DE MADRID abordará la temática de art in the city, refelxionando sobre los espacios de creación individual, colectiva y comunitaria en la ciudad. Metodológicamente se trabajará en el uso del "dibujo como herramienta creativa" de exploración de la ciudad.
Certificado:
Los estudiantes que hayan finalizado el curso recibirán un CERTIFICADO Erasmus+, que valida esta formación, y reconoce la relevancia de este curso en la formación integral de los estudiantes en el Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior.
A quién va dirigido:
Este curso se considera especialmente interesante para estudiantes de máster, aunque también es interesante para estudiantes de doctorado y se han tramitado el reconocimiento de 4 créditos para estudiantes de Grado y Dobles Grados de la Facultad de Educación, que puedan incorporar a su expedinete de estudiaos de grado.
*No es necesario tener conocimiento previo en estudios urbanos ni antropología. El curso pretende ser un espacio abierto al conocimiento, la exploración y la investigación donde los estudiantes cada uno desde su bagaje aporte y construya.
*Es necesario un nivel de inglés adecuado (comunicación oral y escrita) puesto que se desarrollará en esta lengua.

- El 7 de febrero tendrá lugar una Open Session en la que se explicará el curso en profundidad y se pedirá a los inscritos una carta de motivación e interés que permita organizarlos a los estudiantes inscritos en los grupos de investigación en función de los 4 temas ).

Title:
STROLL: European virtual mobility through researching cities
14 February to 30 May 2022
Based on a partnership between Artemisszio Alapitvany (Hungary), Eotvos Lorand Tudomanyerngyetem University (ELTE-Hungary), the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM-Spain) and the University of Thessaly (UTH-Greece), this online course allows students to have a meaningful intercultural learning experience on exploring the city and the urban space in a playful and pedagogically rich manner. This course benefits from the diversity in the background and nationality of the teaching team and aims to create for the students from different countries and cultures a dynamic and interactive educational experience.
Introduction:
The course introduces students into some epistemological traditions and methodological techniques and tools with urban studies. The city is approached both as a research topic and as a field. This exploration teaches us not only about urbanity but also about broader structural and cultural forces influencing our collective life. Given the very wide field of investigation, four thematic topics are privileged: urban space, the gendered city, art in the city, and living in the city. The common thread connecting these seemingly disperse elements will be the engagement to question everywhere the possibility of social justice, inclusion, and equality.
Aims
As students will virtually visit successively three European cities: Budapest (Hungary), Larisa (Greece) and Madrid (Spain), they will both learn theoretically about the four selected topics and conduct further fieldwork in order to discover what looking at the city through these prisms may teach them about European society. Accordingly, students will receive a basic introduction to these 4 specific topics (urban space, the gendered city, art in the city, and living in the city), while they will be methodologically prepared to conduct independent, collective, fieldwork-based, ethnographically informed mini research projects.
Due to the fact that this course concerns students registered in universities of three different countries, they will also learn to participate and collaborate in international groups as well as integrate the cultural diversity in their approach.
Learning outcomes:
At the end of the course students
- will have understood key concepts related to exploring the city and the urban space
- will have studied important authors in this field, will get to know their theoretical frame and will know how to apply this theoretical knowledge to their own research experience
- depending on their research topic, they will deepen their knowledge in specific subfields: urban space, the gendered city, art in the city, and living in the city
- will have gained basic ethnographic skills, such as observing, journaling, interviewing
- will have experimented with at least different creative methods: mapping, photovoice, drawing data.
- will have learned how to use these as data to create hypotheses and mini-theories
- will have gained valuable experience on how to conduct collective research from formulating the research question, gathering data, interpreting these and presenting the findings
- In the process they will practice intercultural communication skills, and will exercise cooperative task management online
Structure of the course:
The course is structured around two pedagogical pillars:
- Online lectures (Monday, 15h to 16h30) for the whole class, presenting theories and methods focused on the four topics: urban space, the gendered city, art in the city, living in the city (20h),
- Research Seminars (Wednesday, 15h to 16h30) (20h), offline during the three first weeks and online during the rest of the semester (weeks 4 to 12). Research seminars will be organized for research groups.
Beside this structured class time, students are expected to spend time on independent fieldwork, collective peer to peer discussions and individual learning (40h all together). Fieldwork and work in research groups are organized independently by students, local students doing offline fieldwork, visiting students online research.
By entering the course, students will be allocated a research topic. Students working on the same topic will form a thematic research group. Each small thematic research group, composed of students from the 3 countries, will work together during the whole program on the same topic but in different cities, visiting 3 countries virtually.
Certificate of successful attendance: Finalizing and handing in assignments duly and according to schedule is a condition for the validation of the course. At the end of the semester and after the successful attendance of the course, each student will be awarded a Certificate of successful attendance (Erasmus + certificate).
Final Registration / Motivation Letter:
The number of students by Institution is limited to 8 .
- Due to the fact that the number of students by Institution is limited to 8, an online Open Session will occur on Monday 7 February 2022 during which a detailed presentation of the course, its structure and its organization (especially as regards seminar groups) will be given.
- At the end of this online Session, it will be asked to candidates from all countries to send to their national team a motivation letter in which they will have to mention their preference in regards to the four proposed research topics: Space, Art, Gender and Living in the City.
- On the basis of the motivation letter, it will be possible to proceed not only to the final selection of the students but also to their allocation to one of the 4 research topics.
*Students should have acceptable level in communication in English.
*No prior study in urban studies, anthropology or other social sciences are needed.
