David Pérez"s group proves the undecidability of the spectral gap

David Pérez García, who was recently award an ERC grant, has proved the undecidability of a central problem of physics, the existen of spectral gap— the energy difference between the ground state and first excited state of a system—is central to quantum many-body physics. This is the first time that such a undecidability answer is given to a major question in Physics. The results have been published in the renowned journal "Nature"
