Bio

Department of Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Analysis, full Professor of Applied Mathematics in Applied Mathematics Department of Computer Sciences Faculty of Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) where he got the degree Licenciado in Physics in 1971. Ph.D. in Physics by Zaragoza University in 1975.

Visiting Research Associated in the Mathematics Department of Brown University (Providence, R.I., USA) in the period 1975-1977.

Scientific Associate of the Center for Nonlinear Studies, Los Alamos National laboratory (Los Alamos, N.M., USA) in 1987-1990.

In the UCM: Vicedean of Physics Faculty, Associated Vicepresident of Research, Director of the European Office for Research, Founder and Director of the Supercomputation Center.

Coordinator of the Scientific foresight in the Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Prospectiva of Spain (ANEP). Founder member of the Centro de Astrobiología (CSIC, INTA) associated to the NASA Astrobiology Institute.

Maximum evaluation degree of the teaching and research activities.

Correspondant Academician of the Real Academia de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales of Spain, and Real Academia de Doctores of Spain.

 

Research interests

Martian studies, Martian atmosphere, electromagnetic radiation, Fractional Calculus, nonlinear dynamics, complex systems, nonlinear wave equations, numerical schemes, stochastic processes, data mining.
