24-11-2014

Begoña Leyra, Director of Gender and Development Studies at ICEI will present a report on 26 November, 2014, entitled, “Aproximaciones a la Niñez en Movimiento en España,” covering research conducted over the course of some two months with the goal of developing an analysis of the plight of displaced immigrant children and adolescents, focusing on gender, human rights, and children’s rights. The project began at the request of Terre des Hommes – Spain with financing from AECID. The concept of immigrant children’s rights is something of a novelty, but the phenomenon can be understood in terms of human rights and according to the Convention of Children´s Rights, so that ultimately the struggle for children’s rights can be approached as an independent goal. The presentation will take place at 18h at the Youth Institute (C/ José Ortega y Gasset, 71), featuring Pilar Debén, Head of Educational Research for AECID; Manuel Macía: Project Director for Terre des Hommes – Spain, Begoña Leyra, Research Coordinator and Director of of Gender and Development Studies at ICEI-UCM, and Maira Pizetta, journalist specializing in environmental product declaration (EPD) and children’s issues.
