SICEI "Social policy of the EU: ESF+, European Semester and the post-2027 budget"
Andoni Montes, Programme Manager para España y Malta en la Comisión Europea, analizó tres instrumentos fundamentales para la política social de la UE: el Fondo Social Europeo Plus (FSE+), el Semestre Europeo y el Marco Financiero Plurianual (MFP) posterior a 2027. Durante la sesión explicó cómo estos mecanismos contribuyen de manera significativa a las políticas laborales, sociales, educativas y de formación, incluidas las reformas estructurales en estos ámbitos, y ayudan a prevenir desigualdades y garantizar la convergencia y la estabilidad en el conjunto de la UE.
Andoni Montes, Programme Manager for Spain and Malta at the European Commission, analysed three key instruments for EU social policy: the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), the European Semester and the post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). During the session, he explained how these mechanisms make a significant contribution to labour, social, education and training policies, including structural reforms in these areas, and help to prevent inequalities and ensure convergence and stability across the EU as a whole.

La profesora Blanca Lozano Navarro (UAM) abordó los límites estructurales de la regulación supranacional y su influencia en las relaciones salariales en el capitalismo de plataformas. A través de una perspectiva comparada entre España e Irlanda, abordó la evolución de los modelos laborales y económicos entre 1970 y 2025.
Professor Blanca Lozano Navarro (UAM) discussed the structural limitations of supranational regulation and its influence on wage relations in platform capitalism. Drawing on a comparative analysis of Spain and Ireland, she examined the evolution of labour and economic models between 1970 and 2025.
Sesión de la Arctic Circle Assembly "Arctic Tourism at a Crossroads: Global Lessons for the North"
Elena Conde participó en la asamblea que se celebra anualmente en Reikiavik (Islandia), un encuentro internacional que reúne a representantes de la comunidad científica y académica, así como de los sectores empresarial y político, para debatir sobre los principales desafíos que afectan al Ártico y analizar las perspectivas de futuro de la región. Intervino en la sesión "Arctic Tourism at a Crossroads: Global Lessons for the North", centrada en los retos y las perspectivas del turismo en las regiones árticas y coorganizada por el ICEI.
Elena Conde took part in the annual assembly held in Reykjavík (Iceland), an international gathering that brings together representatives from the scientific and academic communities, as well as from the business and political sectors, to discuss the main challenges facing the Arctic and analyse the region’s future prospects. She spoke at the session ‘Arctic Tourism at a Crossroads: Global Lessons for the North’, which focused on the challenges and prospects for tourism in the Arctic regions and was co-organised by the ICEI.
Mesa redonda "¿Es posible una transición sin fósiles?"
Organizada por la investigadora del ICEI, Xira Ruiz Campillo y el investigador visitante, Javier Dávalos González. Voces expertas sobre la transición energética, de sectores plurales: la academia, la empresa y la sociedad civil, pudieron poner en común y debatir sobre los retos de la transición ecológica, cómo implementarla y qué instrumentos internacionales son adecuados para llevarla a cabo.
Organised by ICEI researcher Xira Ruiz Campillo and visiting researcher Javier Dávalos González. Experts on the energy transition from a range of sectors – academia, business and civil society – were able to share their views and discuss the challenges of the ecological transition, how to implement it and which international instruments are appropriate for carrying it out.
Seminario "El dilema EE.UU.-Cuba ante un conflicto asimétrico"
Ernesto Domínguez, profesor de la Universidad de La Habana, analizó las estrategias de presión y aislamiento aplicadas por EE.UU., la respuesta cubana y el papel de la geopolítica internacional, destacando cómo las dinámicas regionales y globales influyen en la evolución de las relaciones entre ambos países y el sistema internacional.
Ernesto Domínguez, a professor at the University of Havana, analysed the strategies of pressure and isolation employed by the US, the Cuban response, and the role of international geopolitics, highlighting how regional and global dynamics influence the evolution of relations between the two countries and the international system.
I Congreso ICEI "Investigación multidisciplinar para un mundo en cambio"
Reunió a investigadores del ICEI y expertos de su patronato para visibilizar la investigación más reciente del instituto. El encuentro contó con tres mesas de debate: sobre la gobernanza global y la seguridad, sobre el ecosistema emprendedor en España y sobre el papel de las instituciones públicas en un mundo más complejo.
Gathered academics from the institute and experts from its board of trustees for visibilizing the institute's recent research. The event held three roundtables: on global governance and security, on the Spanish entrepreneurial environment, and on the role of public institutions in a more complex world.
Mesa redonda "Ceuta: la frontera como epicentro de crisis"
Los investigadores del ICEI Alfonso Casani, Augusto Delkáder y Laurence Thieux, junto con Irene Fernández Molina (University of Exeter), trataron la reciente crisis en Ceuta desde diversas perspectivas, analizando el impacto estratégico para España, la UE y las relaciones exteriores y de vecindad con Marruecos.
ICEI researchers Alfonso Casani, Augusto Delkáder and Laurence Thieux, together with Irene Fernández Molina (University of Exeter), discussed the recent crisis in Ceuta from various perspectives, analyzing the strategic impact for Spain, the EU and foreign and vecinity policy with Morocco.
