ENVIROVEG Lab

ENVIROVEG Lab is a laboratory part of Universidad Complutense de Madrid dedicated to the collection and analysis of microclimatic data. The research activities concerning this laboratory fall within those of the ENVIROVEG research group.

SBeginning in 2006, ENVIROVEG Lab set up a broad network of dataloggers throughout the peaks of the main Spanish mountain ranges. Throughout Sistema Central, dataloggers are placed in the Sierra de Guadarrama, Sierra de Gredos, and Sierra de Béjar in accordance with GLORIA sites, where they record hourly variations in ambient temperature. In addition to tracking microclimatic data in high-mountain areas, ENVIROVEG Lab monitors temperature sensors in mountainous areas around 1500 m.a.s.l. in Sierra de Guadarrama (Pinar de Valsain) and Sierra de Gredos (Pinar de Hoyocasero).

ENVIROVEG Lab also has data from the microenvironmental station in Sierra de Gredos (Sistema Central), in the Morezón summit (2375 m.a.s.l. ), including temperature, humidity, and radiation data for different plant species and lichens that are important for ecological research (data available upon request).

Participation in the GLORIA Global Innitiative (www.gloria.ac.at), which aims to conduct long-term monitoring of plant communities in Mediterranean high-mountains and has recently expanded its reach to include temperate Spanish high-mountain areas, is one of the most important tasks conducted by the ENVIROVEG Lab.

ENVIROVEG Lab makes available to potential users different types of variables derived from the temperature data collected, as well as statistical analyzes of the same expressed through images, graphs, tables and other supports to use.
