Ricardo Rey Sáez

Graduated in Psychology from the Complutense University of Madrid (2020) and with a Master’s degree in Methodology of Behavioral and Health Sciences (2022), Ricardo Rey-Sáez is a specialist in psychometrics and Bayesian statistics. His main interest lies in exploring and implementing new ways of modeling psychological phenomena, with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of how we function. He has several applied scientific publications, mainly using structural equation models, and is the author of a statistics manual for master’s students. He has also led outreach initiatives such as Psicometríes, a project awarded the 2024 National Prize for Science Communication in Statistics and Methodology.
He is currently pursuing his PhD in the Department of Basic Psychology at the Autonomous University of Madrid. His research focuses on integrating classical psychometric models (e.g., exploratory and confirmatory factor models) with multilevel approaches to study individual differences in experimental psychology. This framework makes it possible to identify common factors across tasks (such as executive functions or attentional control) and rigorously quantify the relationship between experimental effects and psychological variables of individual differences, such as intelligence, personality, or motivation.
