Rebeca Gualberto Valverde es profesora contratada doctora en el departamento de Estudios Ingleses de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Obtuvo el grado de doctora por esta universidad en el año 2015, con una tesis doctoral que explora diferentes procesos de representación y reinterpretación del mito artúrico medieval de la Tierra Baldía en la tradición literaria post-medieval en lengua inglesa, desde el Renacimiento inglés al postmodernismo de los Estados Unidos. Parte de la investigación realizada para completar esta tesis, que estuvo financiada por una beca de investigación de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, se llevó a cabo en la Universidad de Edimburgo (Reino Unido). Además de en el ámbito filológico, la profesora Gualberto tiene experiencia y formación pedagógica. Sus principales áreas de interés académico e investigador se centran en el estudio de los mitos y su representación literaria como herramienta crítica para explorar la literatura y la cultura desde una perspectiva social, política e ideológica. Ha publicado diversos artículos y capítulos de libros, generalmente sobre reinterpretaciones modernas de la mitología. En el año 2021 publicó la monografía Wasteland Modernism: The Disenchantment of Myth, (Universidad de Valencia), la cual recoge buena parte de las investigaciones de la autora sobre modernismo y mito-crítica. En la actualidad, sus trabajos científicos se centran en el estudio del metamodernismo y las humanidades médicas, con especial atención en la ficción británica contemporánea. 

Rebeca Gualberto Valverde works as associate professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, where she teaches at the Department of English Studies. In 2015 she completed her PhD in Literary Studies with honors at this university, with a research project that explored varied processes of representation and reinterpretation of the Arthurian myth of the Waste Land at different stages of the Anglo-American literary tradition, from the English Renaissance to American Postmodernism. With the financial aid of a UCM scholarship, she carried out part of her doctoral research at the University of Edinburgh, UK. Besides her literary and philological background, Prof. Gualberto also has work experience and an academic background in education. Her main research interests focus on the study of myths and of mythical representation in literature as a critical prism to explore literature and culture from a social, political and ideological perspective. She has published several articles in scholarly journals, most of them examining modern reinterpretations of mythology. In 2021 she published the monograph Wasteland Modernism: The Disenchantment of Myth (Universitat de València), which presents the main conclusions of the author’s research in the fields of myth-criticism and modernist studies. Currently, her research is centered on the study of metamodernism and the medical humanities, with a special focus on contemporary British fiction.
