Marta Sánchez Cócera
Marta Sánchez Cócera es actualmente profesora sustituta en el Departamento de Estudios Ingleses, UCM. Se graduó en 2020 en Estudios Ingleses en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. A lo largo de sus estudios de grado fue beneficiaria de varias becas como la Beca de Excelencia para universitarios (2019-2020) concedida por la Comunidad de Madrid y la beca de colaboración (2019-2020), concedida por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, y destinada a estudiantes universitarios para la realización de tareas de investigación. En 2021 obtuvo el Máster Universitario en Lingüística Inglesa: Nuevas Aplicaciones y Comunicación Internacional por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, siendo beneficiaria de la Ayuda de Excelencia para máster de la UCM (2020-2021). En el período 2021-2025, Marta disfrutó de un contrato predoctoral FPU en el Departamento de Estudios Ingleses, UCM, otorgado por el Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades, para realizar su tesis doctoral, la cual investiga la representación discursiva de diferentes violencias sexuales digitales en comentarios de YouTube.
Sus principales líneas de investigación se centran en los estudios críticos del discurso, la comunicación digital y la violencia (sexual) de género desde diferentes enfoques metodológicos como la lingüística de corpus y el análisis discursivo cualitativo, como muestra su producción investigadora (véase más abajo). Además de publicaciones, Marta ha presentado sus trabajos de investigación en más de diez congresos internacionales, entre los que destacan CILIDI (2025), EntreTextos (2024), CADS (2024), AESLA (2024, 2022), DISGEN1 (2022) o CILC (2022), entre otros. Asimismo, ha realizado estancias en el Instituto Interuniversitario de Lenguas Modernas Aplicadas de la Comunidad Valenciana (IULMA), Universitat de València (septiembre-diciembre de 2023) y el Departamento de Lingüística y Lengua Inglesa de la Universidad de Lancaster (septiembre-diciembre de 2024). Actualmente, colabora como revisora de la Revista de Filología de la Universidad de La Laguna.
Su docencia abarca una gran variedad de asignaturas relacionadas con la lengua y lingüísticas inglesas, incluyendo ‘Metodología de la Enseñanza-Aprendizaje del Inglés’, ‘Lengua Inglesa e Ideología, ‘Discurso y Texto en Inglés’, ‘Sintaxis del Inglés’ o ‘Introducción a la Gramática del Inglés’. Además, Marta participa/ha participado en varios proyectos de innovación docente y de aprendizaje y servicio relacionados con varias temáticas, incluyendo la integración de la plataforma educativa Wooclap y la herramienta de IA ChatGPT en clases de lengua y lingüística (INNOVA nº 46 2022-2023 e INNOVA nº 110 2023-2024), así como en el estudio de las actitudes hacia la diversidad lingüística entre los estudiantes y profesores de lengua y lingüística inglesas (INNOVA 2026-2027) y la democratización del conocimiento académico sobre el bilingüismo y el aprendizaje del inglés (ApS nº60 2025-2026).
Marta Sánchez Cócera is an interim lecturer at the Department of English Studies, Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). She holds a BA in English Studies from Complutense University of Madrid (2020, with Distinction in her final thesis) and an MA in English Linguistics and International Communication (2021, Excellent Grades Award) from the same university. During her undergraduate years, she obtained the Excellent Grades Award (2019-2020, Autonomous Community of Madrid) and the Collaboration Grant (2019-2020), awarded by the Complutense University of Madrid, thanks to which she collaborated with the Department of English Studies (UCM) in carrying out research tasks. During the period 2021-2025, she held a predoctoral research fellowship (FPU), granted by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities, to conduct her PhD, which studies how different forms of technology-facilitated sexual violence and the social actors involved are constructed in the discourse of YouTube commenters.
Her main lines of research focus on critical discourse studies, digitally mediated communication, and gender-based (sexual) violence from corpus-assisted approaches and qualitative linguistic analysis, as evidenced by her research output (see below). In addition to publications, Marta has presented her research work at more than ten international conferences, including CILIDI (2025), EntreTextos (2024), CADS (2024), AESLA (2024, 2022), DISGEN1 (2022) and CILC (2022), among others. Regarding research mobility, Marta has been a visiting PhD student at the Interuniversity Institute of Applied Modern Languages of the Valencian Community (IULMA), Universitat de València (September-December 2023), as well as at the Department of Linguistics and English Language at Lancaster University (September-December 2024). She currently collaborates as a reviewer for Revista de Filología de la Universidad de La Laguna.
Marta has six years of teaching experience at university (2020-2026), having taught multiple subjects on English language and linguistics such as ‘English Language and Ideology’, ‘Discourse and Text in English’, ‘English Syntax’, ‘Introduction to English Grammar’ or ‘English Language Teaching Methodology’. Additionally, she is/has been involved in three teaching innovation projects, dealing with the integration of the educational platform Wooclap and the AI tool ChatGPT in language and linguistics classes (INNOVA nº46 2022-2023 and INNOVA nº 110 2023-2024), as well as exploring attitudes about linguistic diversity among students and teachers of English language and linguistics (INNOVA 2026-2027). Moreover, she is currently a member of a Learning and Service project which aims to educate about bilingualism beyond academia, debunking myths and democratizing scientific knowledge on L2 learning (ApS nº60 2025-2026).
