Ana Laura Rodríguez Redondo es profesora Titular de Filología Inglesa (Lengua y Lingüística) de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Inició investigación con trabajos sobre el lenguaje formuláico en la poesía del inglés antiguo culminando con la Tesis Doctoral sobre las estrategias de composición (oral) en la poesía del inglés antiguo. En el área de la lingüística histórica ha desarrollado varios estudios aplicando las teorías cognitivas, especialmente la metáfora, metonimia y evidencialidad,  al uso del lenguaje en la época del inglés en la alta edad media. Ha participado en numerosos congresos de Lingüística histórica y fue co-organizadora del XXI Congreso de la Sociedad Española de Lengua y Literatura Inglesa Medieval celebrado en la UCM en 2009. Dentro del ámbito de la Lingüística Cognitiva en su aplicación al estudio sincrónico, su formación e investigación se centro durante unos años sobre la relación entre la Neurolingüística y la Lingüística Cognitiva, siendo co-organizadora del II Congreso de la Asociación  Española de Lingüística Cognitiva en la UCM (2000), de cuya Asociación fue Secretaria (2002-04), y dentro de la cual organizó una mesa redonda sobre Neurolingüística. Interesada también por los estudios de género, participó como co-organizadora de las jornadas Internacionales sobre estudios de la mujer desde 1997 hasta el 2014. Actualmente, su objetivo está centrado en el estudio de formas de comunicación no convencionales como son el estudio de las lenguas de signos, especialmente la lengua de signos española (LSE) la americana (ASL) y la británica (BSL), sobre las cuales realiza trabajos de corte contrastivo centrados especialmente en los procesos de iconicidad, metonimia y metáfora y su proyección en la configuración conceptual y formal de estas lenguas. Organizadora la las I Jornadas de Lingüística de Lengua de signos en la UCM (2004), ha participado en varios congresos, cursos y seminarios sobre Lenguas de signos. Igualmente, en la actualidad también investiga sobre la contribución de los gestos como elementos comunicativos que intervienen en la construcción del discurso narrativo oral como elementos complementario para el despliegue comunicativo de la conceptualización y mensaje pre-verbal del narrador.

En cuanto a gestión, aparte de un par de años como Secretaria Académica del Departamento, ha ocupado varios puestos dentro de la dirección del Instituto de Idiomas (1996-1999) y del actual Centro Superior de Idiomas Modernos de la UCM hasta el año 2013 en que como Directora del mismo puso fin a su andadura de gestión académica, aunque sigue colaborando en diversas comisiones del Departamento como en la Comisión de Calidad del Máster. También fue la encargada de las páginas web del mismo durante unos diez años, y durante un breve tiempo la Secretaria Académica del Máster en Lingüística Inglesa: Nuevas aplicaciones y comunicación internacional.
