Me llamo Andriu Arias Astray. Soy catedrático de universidad de trabajo social y servicios sociales en la Facultad de Trabajo Social y estoy vinculado al grupo de investigación de excelencia Factores Psicosociales e Intervención Social, que codirijo junto al profesor Fernando Chacón Fuertes, y al Instituto de Tecnología del Conocimiento. En la actualidad soy el director del departamento de Trabajo Soical y Servicios Sociales y de GrupoLab, un laboratorio de investigación para el desarrollo de alternativas críticas en el ámbito de la intervención social.
He cursado estudios en las Universidades de Santiago de Compostela, Pontificia de Salamanca, Complutense de Madrid, Pontificia de Comillas, Castilla La- Mancha y en la Hogschole i Bergen (Noruega).
Al principio de los años noventa fui becario de FPI y de FPU, de la Comunidad de Madrid y del Ministerio de Educación respectivamente, en el Departamento de Psicología Social de la UCM.
Mis primeros contratos como profesor fueron entre los años 1994 y 1999 vinculado al área de conocimiento de psicología social en la Universidad de Almería.
Soy diplomado en Trabajo Social, doctor y licenciado en Psicología, máster en Psicología de la Salud y Modificación de Conducta, magister en Psicoanálisis y experto en Terapia Familiar Sistémica.
Entre julio de 2019 y julio de 2023, fui director general de la Fundación General de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, y entre octubre de 2013 y junio de 2015 vicerrector de Relaciones Institucionales e Internacionales, también en la UCM. Con anterioridad, y en la Facultad de Trabajo Social, fui decano durane casi cuatro años, tras ocupar los puestos de subdirector de Postgrado e investigación y coordinador académico del Máster en Trabajo Social Comunitario, Gestión y Evaluación de Servicios Sociales.
En la Facultad de Trabajo Social de la UCM, también he sido coordinador académico del Programa de Doctorado (2014-2019) y suelo impartir clases, en el Grado de Trabajo Social, de las asignaturas de Trabajo Social con Grupos.
Además de en la UCM y en la Universidad de Almería, también he desarrollado actividades docentes regladas y de investigación en otros centros académicos tanto españoles como extranjeros (Universidad de Jaén, Universidad Pública de Navarra, Universidade de A Coruña) como extranjeros (RCC en Harvard, Florida International University (USA), University College of Bergen (Noruega), InHolland Univeristy of Applied Sciences (Holanda), ISCTE de Lisboa (Portugal), MCI de Innsbruck, entre otros.
Mis intereses académicos e investigadores son bastante diversos, si bien los que centran actualmente mi trabajo en los siguientes:
Epistemología del Trabajo Social. Trabajo Social con Grupos, en especial con grupos en línea (online). Violencia de género. Factores en la detección y valoración en casos de maltrato sexual infantil por parte de los/las profesionales de los sistemas de bienestar social de la infancia. My name is Andriu Arias Astray. I am a full professor of social work and social services in the School of Social Work, and I am affiliated with the “Psychosocial Factors and Social Intervention” research group of excellence—which I co-direct with Professor Fernando Chacón Fuertes—and with the Institute of Knowledge Technology. I am currently the director of the Department of Social Work and Social Services and of GrupoLab, a research laboratory dedicated to developing critical alternatives in the field of social intervention.
I have studied at the Universities of Santiago de Compostela, the Pontifical University of Salamanca, the Complutense University of Madrid, the Pontifical University of Comillas, the University of Castilla-La Mancha, and the Hogskolen i Bergen (Norway).
In the early 1990s, I was a fellow of the FPI and FPU programs—administered by the Community of Madrid and the Ministry of Education, respectively—in the Department of Social Psychology at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM).
My first teaching positions were between 1994 and 1999 in the field of social psychology at the University of Almería.
I hold a diploma in Social Work, a Ph.D. and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a master’s degree in Health Psychology and Behavior Modification, a master’s degree in Psychoanalysis, and I am an expert in Systemic Family Therapy.
From July 2019 to July 2023, I served as Director General of the General Foundation of the Complutense University of Madrid, and from October 2013 to June 2015, I served as Vice Rector for Institutional and International Relations, also at the UCM. Prior to that, at the School of Social Work, I served as dean for nearly four years, after holding the positions of associate director of graduate studies and research and academic coordinator of the Master’s Program in Community Social Work, Management, and Evaluation of Social Services.
At the UCM’s School of Social Work, I also served as academic coordinator of the Doctoral Program (2014–2019) and regularly teach the course “Social Work with Groups” as part of the Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.
In addition to the UCM and the University of Almería, I have also carried out formal teaching and research activities at other academic institutions, both in Spain and abroad (University of Jaén, Public University of Navarra, University of A Coruña) as well as internationally (RCC at Harvard, Florida International University (USA), University College of Bergen (Norway), InHolland University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands), ISCTE in Lisbon (Portugal), and MCI in Innsbruck, among others.
My academic and research interests are quite diverse, although my work currently focuses on the following:
