Luis Bermejo Vida (1880-1941)

 

After completing his bachelor's degree in Science, he earned a doctorate for his thesis entitled "Aragonese Coal" in 1903. In the same year, he accepted a position as Professor of General Chemistry in Santiago. Later, he also served as Professor in Valencia where he held the position of Vice-Rector. 

In 1923, he joined the Faculty of Science at the Central University as Professor of Organic Chemistry and Basic Knowledge of Biochemistry. He served as Vice-Rector and Rector at the same university between 1927 and 1929.

He held professional positions in the Spanish state-owned petroleum company, CAMPSA, and political positions as Mayor of Valencia and Governor of various provinces. Once the Spanish civil war ended, he was appointed member of the commission for purging university professors and also Dean of the Faculty of Sciences.
