José Rodríguez Carracido (1856-1928)

 

After completing his bachelor's degree in Pharmacy at the University of Santiago in 1874, he earned his doctorate from the University of Madrid for his thesis “Theory of Fermentation”

He was appointed military pharmacist as a result of public examinations and remained in the army until 1880. He held the chairs of Organic Chemistry (1881) and Biological Chemistry (1898) in the Faculty of Pharmacy.

During his academic career, he was Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and assumed his duties as Rector in 1916 remaining in this position until 1927
