Jorge Caceres Gianni is the founder and director of the Laser Chemistry Research Group. He received his PhD in 1997 at the National University of Córdoba Argentine.

He has received several pre-doctoral and doctoral scholarships that are worth mentioning: the CONICET Scholarship (1998-2000), the Post-doctoral Fellow MEC (Spain) (2003-2006), and the Research - Ramón y Cajal Program (UCM) (2003-2006).

He has worked on developing techniques for dynamic imaging studies and molecular beam spectroscopy. In the field of lasers, he has contributed to the development of laser techniques for application in environmental analysis and the development of mathematical methods of data processing for the quantification and identification by laser spectroscopy.

In 2008 he created the Research Group of Chemical Laser to explore analytical applications using different spectroscopic techniques, primarily Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) in different areas such as food industry, forensic medicine, pathogen identification, and environmental, geological, and elemental analysis of different samples.

His research activity has resulted in the publication of 144 articles in JCR-indexed journals, with more than 97% in the first third (T1). h index=25, i10-index=43. Furthermore, his research results have been presented at 64 scientific congresses/meetings, 90% of which were international, and I have served as a guest speaker on 26 occasions. Furthermore, I have participated in 10 competitive projects funded by the National Research Plan, the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), and UCM (being the Principal Investigator of 5). The last one is the “Metrological optimisation of novel analytical techniques: New integrated approaches for the detection of pollutants and air quality monitoring” (CPP2022-009754) and the "Characterization of atmospheric aerosols in Antarctica" project financed by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (Spain) (CTM2017-82929-R). In addition, I have carried out a knowledge transfer task that has resulted in 5 patents, including one international patent. Also signed 4 research contracts and technology transfer projects with companies (OTRI-Art. 60 LOSU agreements) and has been a principal investigator on all of them.

Regarding the dissemination and generation of scientific outcomes, it is worth noting that I have published 18 papers in indexed journals over the last 3 years, 6 book chapters, 3 non-indexed dissemination publications, 7 international conferences, 3 national conferences, 3 master's theses, 2 doctoral thesis, and 3 patents. I am a member of the editorial board of the Environmental Science, Journal of Chemistry and a regular reviewer of scientific articles.

He is currently a founding member of the IBERO-AMERICAN Society of LIBS Spectroscopy and its president.  www.iberolibs.org

The main lines of his research can be found on this website.
