Professor Cristina Montiel Molina is undertaking a research stay in Melbourne during May and June 2026 as an Adjunct Professor at La Trobe University.

During her stay, she is advancing the research project she initiated in 2018 on fire culture and the cultural burning practices of Aboriginal communities. The current phase of the project focuses on a comparative analysis of controlled burns in Europe and Australia, with the aim of identifying shared approaches, differences, and lessons for sustainable fire management.
