The Research Group on Forest Geography, Policy and Socioeconomics have presented the results on historical forest fires obtained during the last nine years in the frame of the research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, at the 7th EUGEO Congress held in Galway, Ireland, from 15 to 18 may 2019. The congress was attended by around 500 people coming from 35 different countries.
Mrs. Catarina Sequeira presented some of her PhD These findings through an oral presentation entitled "Cultural landscape and fire through the Iberian Central Mountain System", and Prof. Cristina Montiel presented the main conclusions of the collective research on "The changing dynamics of rural terriories and fire risk in the inner mountain areas of Spain". Both oral presentations were included in the session on Cultural Transformations of Mountain Landscape, organized by Dr. Zdenek Kucera (Charles University, Faculty of Science, Prague, Czechia).
