III Workshop CLARIAH-CM, 11 and 12 of June 2026

The event took place at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos on the 11th and 12th of June 2026.

Organised by Elena Battaner Moro (URJC) and her team, with the collaboration of the postdoctoral technical staff at the CLARIAH-CM Office the III Workshop CLARIAH -CM took place at the Rey Juan Carlos University under the title: III Workshop CLARIAH-CM: "Hacia una infraestructura europea para las Artes y Humanidades en EOSC: CLARIN, DARIAH y SSHOC". Over the course of the two-day event, research projects by members of the CLARIAH-CM Node were presented, along with posters on Digital Humanities and Language Technologies linked to the six public universities in Madrid. In addition, renowned experts delivered lectures on the role of the DARIAH and CLARIN infrastructures within SSHOC (Social Sciences & Humanities Open Cluster) to boost our community’s profile within the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). Specifically, Pilar Rico Castro (FECYT) spoke about Spain’s research strategy regarding the EOSC, whilst Sally Chambers (SSHOC and DARIAH-EU) gave a lecture on SSHOC and the future of research infrastructures in the social sciences and humanities within the EOSC. Finally, Gustavo Candela (UA) spoke about the reuse of digital collections and Digital Humanities Labs. In addition, a training workshop on metadata enrichment using AI was held, led by Pilar Escobar Esteban and Dolores Sáez Fernández (UA).

 

The opening ceremony of the 3rd CLARIAH-CM Workshop was attended not only by the organiser, Elena Battaner Moro, in her capacity as Vice-Dean for Research and the Library at the URJC, but also by the following officials: Joaquín Rams Ramos, Vice-Rector for Research, Doctoral Studies and the Library at the URJC; Lucía de Juan Ferré, Vice-Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer at the UCM; German Rigau Claramunt, National Coordinator of CLARIAH-ES; and Ana Aricha Yanguas, Deputy Assistant Director-General for International Consortia, Organisations and Scientific Infrastructures (MICIU). The closing session also featured speeches by Vicente Parras, Deputy Director-General for Innovation and Technology of the Community of Madrid; Miguel Ángel Esparza, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at URJC; and Dolores Romero López, Coordinator of the CLARIAH-CM Node.

 

The event was a great success and the debates that arose during the various sessions gave rise to interesting conversations, which enriched the presentations and led to lively discussions during the breaks.
