CLARIAH-CM sponsored the course that will take place on 8, 9 and 10 July 2026 as part of the UCM Summer School based at El escorial.
28 may 2026 - 12:41 CET
This course will explore how technology is redefining global communication and what role linguists can play in leading this transformation.Led by Elena Montiel and Nava Maroto experts from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). The course aims to bring together communication experts with a twofold purpose: on the one hand, to create a space for debate and reflection on the role of language and translation in a globalised world dominated by artificial intelligence; on the other, to explore initiatives and projects at the intersection of language and technology, enabling participants to gain first-hand knowledge. You can view the course programme here.
Although you can register via this link right up until the first day of the course, places are limited, so we recommend booking to secure a place.
The registration fee is €200, with various types of tuition grants available for UCM staff and students, professionals, pensioners, the unemployed and people with a certified disability (application deadline: 31 May). Accommodation and living expenses grants are also available (application deadline: 31 May). Full details can be found here.
We are confident that this course will be a great success and will help foster critical and informed thinking about the uses of AI in the field of linguistics. See you there!
