UCadMet has evolved over time with the addition of new monitoring sites. Locations were chosen based on the measurement strategy, logistical feasibility, and long-term climatological representativeness. Because Dakar is densely populated and rapidly urbanizing, only natural or minimally urbanized areas were selected to avoid bias. After evaluating all options, three sites were identified as optimal for the project: École Supérieure Polytechnique (UCAD), Île de Gorée, and Île de Madeleine.

U002-GOREE Ile de Gorée, a site characterized by a profound maritime influence due to its proximity to the coastline, which is a mere 50 meters away.

U003-MADELEINE Parc national des îles de la Madeleine, in proximity to Dakar. This location is characterized by its pristine state, exhibiting a closely reflected atmospheric condition found in the western part of Africa, with minimal disturbance from local anthropogenic sources.
