Xiana Sotelo

Después de un periodo de investigación pre-doctoral en la universidad UC Berkeley, California-U.S. Xiana Sotelo se doctoró en Estudios Culturales y Literarios en países de habla inglesa en la universidad Complutense de Madrid. Tiene un Master en Estudios de Mujeres y en la Enseñanza del Español como Lengua Extranjera, ambos cursados en la universidad Complutense de Madrid.

La Doctora Xiana Sotelo es profesora asociada e imparte cursos de Literatura de los Estados Unidos. Sus principales líneas de investigación son: Estudios Culturales y Literarios en países de habla inglesa, Gender- Women´s Studies (Intersectionality and intercultural dialogues); narrativas transmedia ; Eco-Crítica, Eco-Feminismo; Critical thinking y RRI-Responsable Research and Innovation en las Humanidades.

Dentro del grupo de investigación SIIM-UCM -Studies on Intermediality and Intercultural Mediation- es coordinadora del área de género, interculturalidad e innovación social.  Ha sido traductora y revisora en el Victorian Web Project. Ha dirigido el proyecto de investigación SIIM-UFV “Representaciones artístico-Literarias intermediales como herramientas de expresión y de (de)construcción de identidad y valores europeos en estudiantes universitarios” https://www.ucm.es/siim/new-narratives-for-europe . En el marco de esta investigación, realizó dos estancias cortas de investigación en el Real Colegio Complutense de Harvard. También ha dirigido los proyectos de innovación docente SIIM-UFV “Nuevas Narrativas para Europa desde las Humanidades: habilidades de pensamiento crítico dentro de la ética y la responsabilidad social” https://www.ucm.es/siim/new-narratives-for-europe  y “ Critical Thinking Skills and Service Learning through Transmedia Stories of Social Intervention” https://www.ucm.es/siim/transmedia-social-intervention. En el área del pensamiento crítico y responsabilidad social en las Humanidades, actualmente forma parte del proyecto:  “Transferable Skills for Student and Early Career Researchers”  https://www.ucm.es/siim/transferable-skills-for-students-and-early-career-researchers

Es co-editora del Journal of Artistic Creation and Literary Research https://www.ucm.es/siim/journal-of-artistic-creation-and-literary-research  y miembro de  ESCL- Sociedad Europea de Literatura Comparada; European Society of Comparative Literature; AEDEAN- Asociación Española de Estudios Anglo-Americanos; y ATGENDER- Asociación Europea para la Investigación en Género.

Ha participado en numerosos congresos científicos nacionales e internacionales tanto en el área de los Estudios Literarios y Culturales- Women, Gender Studies como en Educación.

After a period of pre-doctoral research at UC Berkeley University, California-U.S. Xiana Sotelo received a PhD in Cultural and Literary Studies in English-speaking countries at the Complutense University of Madrid. She has a Master's Degree in Women's Studies and in the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language, both studied at the Complutense University of Madrid.

Dr. Xiana Sotelo is an associate professor and teaches courses in Literature to the United States. Her main lines of research are: Cultural and Literary Studies in English-speaking countries, Gender-Women´s Studies (Intersectionality and intercultural dialogues); Transmedia narratives; Eco-Criticism, Eco-Feminism; Critical thinking and RRI-Responsible Research and Innovation in the Humanities.

Within the SIIM-UCM research group -Studies on Intermediality and Intercultural Mediation- she is coordinator of the area of gender, interculturality and social innovation. She has been a translator and reviewer at the Victorian Web Project. He has directed the SIIM-UFV research project “Intermediate artistic-literary representations as tools of expression and (de) construction of European identity and values in university students” https://www.ucm.es/siim/new-narratives- for-europe. Within the framework of this project, she conducted two short research stays at Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard university.
