Appraisal of applications

Admission Criteria

The admission process will be carried out by the Academic Commission.

In relation to the admission profile, it is recommended that students have completed degrees in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Medicine, Chemistry, Veterinary Medicine, or other related degrees with enough acquired competences to be able to follow these studies. The provisions of RD 99/2011, or those regulating the characteristics of the degrees, will always be taken into account. In addition, depending on the degree, it would be advisable that students entering this Doctoral Programme have completed an Interuniversity Master's Degree such as "Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine" or equivalent masters with an important practical content, research orientation and competences acquired in the scientific field of the Programme.

The Academic Commission will take into account the student's profile and may, if necessary, recommend the completion of complementary training. In these cases the student will have to take up 12 ECTS credits of the subject Biomolecular Methodologies, included in the Master in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine. It is also recommended that students have an adequate level of English.


Evaluation Criteria

The Academic Commission of the Doctoral Programme will analyze the applications for admission, and the following merits and aspects may be assessed:

  1. Academic record (0-50) and adequacy of the previous training of the student's degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology or related areas (0-10).
  2. Research activity, such as publications and communications to congresses (0-10) and other accredited aspects of the curriculum vitae [level of English, stays abroad, collaboration grants and awards, (0-10)].
  3. Interview with the Academic Committee (0-20) in which aspects such as motivation, interest, willingness, communication skills, etc. will be assessed.

Admission to the Doctoral Program will require a minimum grade of 60/100.
