MemTecWare
MemTecWare
The present coordinated project is formed by three subprojects that will be carried out by the University Complutense of Madrid (UCM) research group “Membranes and Renewable Energies (MER)”, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) research group “Industrial Systems of Efficiency and Renewable Energies (ISERE)”, and the Polytechnic University of Catalunya (UPC) research group “Resource Recovery and Environmental Management (R2EM)”.
MemTecWare project proposes the combination of different advanced membrane separation technologies (Membrane Distillation, MD; Osmotic Membrane Distillation, OMD; Membrane Crystallization, MCr; Reverse Electrodialysis, RED and Pressure Retarded Osmosis, PRO) for the treatment of wastewaters with high salinity or/and ammonia content for the sustainable production of water, salinity gradient power (SGP), which is so called blue energy (BE), and the recovery of addedvalue compounds (such as ammonium salt, ammonia gas or others valuable salts) reducing water footprint, approaching zero waste, moving closer to the circular economy and approaching the concept of zero liquid discharge (ZLD).
