The Quantum Research Group at the University of Siegen (Germany) is seeking a motivated PhD student in the fields of quantum information theory, foundations of quantum theory, and quantum optics.

The research group is led by three Principal Investigators (Otfried Gühne, Stefan Nimmrichter, and Chau Nguyen). The core research areas include:

Multiparticle entanglement and quantum networks.

Foundations of quantum mechanics and Bell nonlocality.

Thermodynamics of open quantum systems and quantum thermal machines.

Quantum metrology and quantum learning.

Matter wave interferometry, decoherence theory, and the quantum-classical transition.

Requirements: A Master of Science (MSc) in Physics, a strong background in theoretical physics, and an interest in the foundational questions of quantum mechanics.

Additional Criteria: Since the positions are funded by a project dedicated to improving quantum education in schools, interest in organizing outreach events for pupils is required. A working knowledge of the German language is considered an advantage.
